Since graduating from Queen Margaret University in 2016, I have built my career in Edinburgh supporting children and young people across the full educational spectrum—from mainstream nurseries to enhanced specialist provisions. My recent work within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) has given me a deep understanding of how communication challenges and mental wellbeing are inextricably linked.
Specialist Clinical Experience
I provide expert assessment and evidence-based intervention for a variety of communication profiles, including:
- Neurodiversity & Autism: Supporting the unique communication styles of Autistic young people with a focus on mental health and wellbeing.
- Developmental Language Disorder (DLD): Helping children navigate the complexities of language throughout their school years.
- Selective Mutism: Using gentle, anxiety-informed strategies to help children feel safe enough to find their voice.
- Speech & Fluency: Specialist support for speech sound difficulties and stammering.
A Holistic, Settings-Based Approach
Having worked in primary, secondary, and enhanced provisions, I understand the "real world" challenges children face in the classroom. My therapy is designed to be:
- Collaborative: Working closely with families and school staff to ensure strategies work in everyday life.
- Mental Health Informed: Prioritizing regulation and emotional safety, particularly for those with complex emotional needs.
- Age-Appropriate: Transitioning support seamlessly from early language delays to the more complex social-communication needs of adolescents.
