Private sensory processing & sensory integration therapy for children

When ordinary sounds, textures, clothing or movement feel unbearable to your child, daily life turns into a series of battles. Sensory integration occupational therapy gives families a way to understand what is happening and reduce the friction at home and at school.

Sensory processing is how the brain takes in and organises information from the senses. For some children this system works differently: they may be overwhelmed by noise and labels, crave spinning and crashing, struggle with balance and coordination, or find mealtimes and getting dressed a daily ordeal. This is common in autistic children and children with ADHD, but it happens on its own too.

How sensory integration therapy helps

A sensory integration occupational therapist assesses how your child responds to the world, then builds a practical plan: changes to the classroom and home, a “sensory diet” of activities that help your child stay regulated, and therapy that builds the underlying skills. The goal is not to label your child but to make everyday life calmer and more possible.

Sensory or occupational therapy? Sensory integration is a specialism within occupational therapy. If your child also needs help with handwriting, coordination, self-care or attention, a paediatric OT covers all of this. Many of our sensory specialists are OTs who do both.
