Based in Falkirk and serving Edinburgh and Central Scotland, Kirsteen offers a truly unique perspective on functional independence through Activate OT Ltd. With a First Class Honours degree in Occupational Therapy and a background in Interior Design, Kirsteen offers a truly unique perspective on functional independence. As the founder of Activate OT Ltd, she combines clinical excellence with a specialist Post Graduate Certificate (with Distinction) in Ayres Sensory Integration® to support clients across the lifespan in overcoming sensory and environmental barriers.

The Sensory-Environmental Specialist
Kirsteen’s unique background in Design and Craft allows her to analyze the "world" a client lives in just as deeply as the challenges they face. She specializes in:

  • Ayres Sensory Integration® Therapy: Providing high-level assessment and intervention for those with sensory processing differences.
  • Environmental Adaptation: Using her design expertise to recommend meaningful changes to home and school environments that reduce stress and promote engagement.
  • Lifespan Support: Extensive experience working with children, teenagers, and adults to navigate neurodivergent profiles (Autism/ADHD).

Clinical Support & Wellbeing
Kirsteen uses the "therapeutic self" to build strong, trusting relationships with her clients, addressing:

  • Mental Health & Regulation: Practical strategies for managing depression, anxiety, and stress-related difficulties.
  • Long-Term Condition Management: Helping clients in the community navigate pain, fatigue, and persistent health challenges.
  • Complex Behavior: Specialist support for those whose sensory needs may manifest as "challenging" behavior, refocusing on regulation and safety.

Professional Consultancy & Mentoring
Beyond direct therapy, Kirsteen supports the wider professional community through:

  • BSc (1st Class Hons) Occupational Therapy – Robert Gordon University.
  • PgCert (Distinction) Sensory Integration Therapy – Ulster University.
  • BA Design and Craft (Interiors) – Specialist environmental design background.
  • Fully Registered: Accredited by the HCPC.
